There are many possibilities on it, old drivers, erroneous setups, and etc... I have a lot of registry leak entries caused by avp.exe (at least one per day), but yes, I have other applications too (I did not know). When you shutdown your system, does it shutdown cleanly or do you have to force a shutdown due to some process not responding? Symantec typically also posts an announcement on the NIS board when a new version is released with a brief list of fixes that are resolved with the new version.
As I pointed out previously, we have reproduced the problem in-house and believe that we have a fix for a future update. In such a situation the error appears.
