Clearly, it is still saving things that I haven't asked it to. One of these bugs is in the File History utility - something that first appeared in Windows 8. By default, Windows 10, Windows 8.1, and Windows 7 display desktop icons in a preset medium size. Anyway, I'll try what you suggest and see what happens. I should add that I tried a backup using both the Backup window and the File History window in order to see if I could recreate the "Warning" message that the I dont know if i moved the history or where too.

I am also not sure about leaving my (internal) HDD being left turned on, as explained in the thread I link to above. Left click on “Turn on”. In the Update & security window, you will find six subsections in the left-side column and you have to click or tap on Backup. The external HDD is spinning and has been for over 5 minutes now.
