I removed the software.I also went to check the available drivers for the laptop, found one that deals with the function keys and reinstalled it.After both steps were completed, I had Thanks man, that was a huge catch. I'm still trying to sort them out. The reason they probably said it IS because they wanted to not deal with me anymore.

Windows 7 itself pointed out that there was a missing driver which was "Sony Programmable I/O Control Device (SPIC)". Give it a shot. Since pressing FN and the F keys worked, then my gut told me it had to be much simpler and not as complicated as above. I recently upgraded to 8.1 and now the function key to adjust brightness does not affect brightness.
