I did as you said and disabled NIS while I updated the bios drivers and ran the CCleaner afterwards. You are very lucky to have an analyst to help you. Diagnosing a laptop is not as easy as diagnosing a desktop because the parts are not as easily available and interchangeable. Interesting that 'Carlos' from Symantec referred to one of my video drivers in the dump files! Brummie Sorry to hear you are still having trouble. Solved.
