I have Win 7 ultimate on a VM on my mac and wanted to upgrade it. I know I did a reinstall that way. Ran the 'Upgrade Assistant' in XP Compatibility Mode.

And at first, I thought this was a disaster, but then, I removed the default apps on the 'Start' window, added my favorite ones to it, and enjoying every moment of Installed extra 1Gb RAM and also installed new 120GB SSD and purchased windows 8 upgrade.

MS sent emails today saying the key expires on 31 Jan?? Was able to activate Win 8 after that.
